Michael Sitrin, MD

Dr. Michael Sitrin is professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. Dr. Sitrin’s research interests include basic and clinical investigation of vitamin D absorption and the role of vitamin D in the development of colon cancer. He has also conducted studies of malabsorption and nutrition deficiencies in gastrointestinal diseases. He has collaborated with Dr. Lackner on the development of novel ambulant wireless capsule technology for the study of motility through the gastrointestinal tract, and on clinical trials for irritable bowel syndrome and other gastrointestinal diseases. Dr. Sitrin is the author of more than 100 research publications, 40 review articles and book chapters, and 150 scientific abstracts. Buffalo Spree’s survey of local physicians included Dr. Sitrin in the top 101 physicians and top four gastroenterologists in western New York.
